Instructional ProgramThe purpose of Rio International School is to provide a quality education, which prepares students for the challenges of the 21st century by allowing them to realize their full potential academically, physically, socially, and spiritually. This education is provided with a framework of Christian ethics and values, with the commitment to treat all cultures, customs, and religions with respect.The philosophy of Rio International School is based on a God-centered view that all truth is God’s truth and that the Bible is the inspired, authoritative word of God. Our program is directed toward individual development and enrichment in the following areas: intellectual, physical, moral, spiritual, and social, incorporated into the areas of citizenship training, character development, personal values, and ethics. We believe that each student is created as a unique individual and is of supreme worth. Consequently, the dignity and worth of the individual should be highly respected. The pre-school, elementary, middle school and high school follow a modified American-style curriculum. Students of many national and ethic backgrounds attend RIS. In order to function in this kind of environment, it is important that a common language be used. Students are expected to use only English during the school day or at school activities. The English only policy also accelerates the speed at which students who receive ESL (English as a Second Language) support services learn English. The only exception is foreign language classes |
