Lunch OptionsRIS offers optional hot lunches through a local caterer. Lunch schedules are put together by a local nutritionist to ensure that growing students receive the nutrients they need. Lunches consist of the traditional rice and beans, two kinds of meat, salad, vegetables, fruit juice and often pasta or pizza. Custom meals can also be arranged for special diets or medical reasons.
BusingRIS offers optional busing to and from school through a reputable and fully licensed bus company. A professional chaperone always accompanies the driver to ensure your child’s safety needs are met.
TutoringAt the secondary level, all core subject teachers will be available one day a week after school to assist students who need extra help in these classes.
ESLThe English as a Second Language (ESL) Program at Rio International School exists to address the needs of students whose native language is not English. We utilize dynamic materials for ages K-12 that are appropriate for the unique oral language, reading, and writing competencies of each student. We use proven testing tools to check the best level of placement for each student.
UniformRio International School has a uniform policy in place. School shirts are available for purchase from an outside vendor. Physical Education classes also have a required uniform.
LunchThe school has two cafeteria areas and a catered lunch program. Students who wish to bring their own lunches from home have access to a microwave and the dining area.
SnacksThe PTSA operates a snack shop that is open to the students during the week. Proceeds go toward PTSA initiatives.
After SchoolThree days a week, the school offers activities for students. Chess club, art club, soccer, and more. A schedule is published at the beginning of the year so that families can plan for these activities. Activities change at the end of each semester.
Service Day Social EnviromentOne of the goals at RIS is community service. Service days are scheduled periodically throughout the year. During these service events, student go out into the community to help others and to learn about those with different perspectives and challenges. |
